DAAD EPOS scholarships 2027–2028 in Germany
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers EPOS scholarships for selected development-related postgraduate courses at German universities. The programme is intended for qualified graduates from eligible developing and emerging countries who want to build expertise connected to development in their home countries. EPOS does not fund every postgraduate course in Germany: applicants must choose a course listed in DAAD’s programme scheme.
There is no single EPOS application deadline. Each course sets its own deadline and application procedure, and candidates apply directly to the selected course or university. Check the current DAAD course list and the university’s instructions for the 2027–2028 intake before preparing an application.
Scholarship Benefits
DAAD’s scholarship database lists a monthly payment of €992 for graduates. It also lists payments toward health, accident and personal liability insurance, a travel allowance unless those costs are covered elsewhere, and possible monthly rent and family allowances. Funding lasts 12 to 42 months depending on the study programme. Confirm the award and any applicable allowances for your chosen course; benefits should not be assumed to cover every expense.
Who Can Apply
DAAD’s general EPOS guidance describes eligible applicants as graduates from listed eligible countries with at least two years of relevant professional experience. Its typical applicant profile includes an appropriate bachelor’s degree, very strong academic results, related work experience gained after the first degree, and a degree normally no more than six years old. Applicants should demonstrate development-related motivation and meet the academic and language requirements of their chosen course. Individual programmes may set further conditions.
Eligible Courses and Deadlines
EPOS scholarships are available only for postgraduate courses included in DAAD’s EPOS programme scheme. Course subjects, participating universities, admission criteria and deadlines differ. DAAD’s scholarship database says the deadline depends on the chosen programme, so verify the relevant 2027–2028 deadline with both the current DAAD course information and the university offering the course.
