University of Memphis graduate assistantships 2027: USA (tuition, fees and stipend)
The University of Memphis offers graduate assistantships in academic areas across the university. These appointments provide supervised teaching, research or other work experience alongside financial support. Assistantships are competitive and depend on departmental openings. Admission to a graduate program does not guarantee an appointment, and there is no single university-wide application deadline.
Benefits depend on whether an appointment is full-time or part-time. Full-time assistants receive full tuition and specified fees during fall and spring, a stipend equivalent to at least $15 per hour, and, for eligible appointments lasting at least four months, coverage of the full health-insurance premium. Part-time assistants receive at least half tuition and fees plus a stipend, but do not receive the assistantship health-insurance benefit.
Full-Time Assistantships
- Full tuition, university service fees and course fees during fall and spring semesters
- A paid stipend equivalent to at least $15 per hour
- An average workload of 20 hours per week, with no more than 300 hours over a 15-week semester
- Full-time enrollment is normally at least 9 credit hours, with exceptions for certain dissertation-stage, thesis and final-semester students
- 100% health-insurance premium coverage for eligible full-time assistants contracted for at least four months
Part-Time Assistantships
- At least half tuition and fees during fall and spring semesters
- A paid stipend equivalent to at least $15 per hour
- An average workload of 10 hours per week, with no more than 150 hours over a 15-week semester
- No assistantship health-insurance benefit
Summer tuition and fees are not guaranteed for either appointment type. The university says departments are not required to cover summer costs, so applicants should confirm any summer support in writing with the hiring department.
